EcoFlow Delta Pro Review

Settle in an enjoy another of our product deep-dives. This here is our EcoFlow Delta Pro Review.

This is a quite monstrously powerful piece of kit, providing 3600W of maximum power.

Until recently, it was EcoFlow’s largest model, and there are only one or two models of portable power station that can match its heft, and we’ll discuss the main competitor, the Aferiy P310, and its relative merits also.

Here’s the price and specifications, at EcoFlow UK.

We’ve listed some basic info below.

What were the key determinants for our verdict on the Delta Pro?

We analysed it for:

  • Does it meet the rated power capabilities as advertised?
  • How well can it sustatin its power in practice?
  • Lithium battery cells type
  • BMS quality – not just an analysis of the software, but an important determinant of 1) the safety of this generator (particularly important for one of this size); and 2) its likely longevity (how well it protects itself from damage by common accidental user practices, like overcharging or undercharging)

Rating the EcoFlow Delta Pro

What were the pros and cons of this solar generator?

EcoFlow DELTA Pro Portable Power Station

EcoFlow Delta Pro

Pros and who needs this battery powered generator:

Insanely fast charging for a unit of this size
2900W of AC charging is possible with the EcoFlow Delta Pro. This dwarfs the maximum AC charging power of its main competitor, the Aferiy P310 (2200W). And that translates to a charge time to 100% of 1.7 hours, that’s 1 hour 42 minutes. For such a big capacity battery to be charged in such a short time is a real wow factor of this power station.

Genuine off-grid potential – with huge 1600W of maximum solar panel power
What does that mean? Why do we say genuine off-grid potential? We mean that with this much solar power available, you can live away from any mains hook-up for potentially quite a long time. That does depend, of course, on there being enough sunshine that you’ll get enough power purely from solar, of course! Consider this a summer-specific benefit, then.

Big enough to be called a home backup system
The Delta Pro is big enough to power almost anything your home needs. The 3600W power this unit is capable of is big enough to power pretty much anything you have in your home, in the event of a power cut. For example, cooking with an electric stove would typically need anywhere from 1000-3000W. Dishwashers, electric heaters, lawnmower, pressure cooker, blender, fridge and many more appliances are easily powered by a portable power station of this size. See a list of typical appliance wattages.

Easy to use
Considering this can be used, as mentioned above, as a home backup generator, it’s super easy to use, in practice. No complicated setup, no intricate wiring required. It’s really simply plug and play. However, read the cons below to see one drawback that makes it less simple for some people.

Established brand in the UK
You may or may not be aware of EcoFlow, they’re not quite Pananosic or Sony levels of brand recognition. But they’ve been around for a while now – and built a solid reputation for their products, across their whole range of power stations and solar panels. We’ve done the analysis on EcoFlow’s product reputation.

Cons:

Outmatched for maximum solar panel power by a competitor (and by its big brother, the Delta Pro 3)
We said solar panel maximum power is good, and at a sizeable 1600W, it certainly is. But if maximising your solar power usage is one of your main considerations for your power station purchase decision, then the Aferiy P310 may be more suitable. The Aferiy power station offers a maximum of 2000W solar panel connection.

Some functions can only be used via the App
And the App has plenty of modes and functions. A great thing for some users, and an unnecessary headache for those who are not technology lovers. Perhaps as a power station becomes so big and with so much complexity and variability in how you use, it becomes too difficult to make everything able to be controlled on the unit itself. But, whatever the reason, the fact is that some less tech-savvy users will get confused at some point or other.

Where can you get it?

EcoFlow Delta Pro Review Summary

We’ve said what we had to say, and so ends our EcoFlow Delta Pro Review.

You read that the Delta Pro can be used as a genuine home backup generator. And that it has enough solar panel potential for genuine off-grid use. We’ve described it as a monster, and 3600W is enough power to justify that characterisation.

It’s easy to use, except that some aspects can only be operated using the App.

And while it’s great for using with solar panels, its key rival, the Aferiy P310, offers a higher maximum solar power.

Whether this is the monster you choose, or otherwise, all the best.
