Vtoman Jump 600X Review

Settle down and enjoy. For here begins our Vtoman Jump 600X Review.

This has become the top-selling model of portable power station in 2024.

But is it any good, or is it all hype?

That’s what we’ll be checking out.

It has a unique feature we’ve never seen on a power station before until this range came along – you can also use it as a jump starter to jump your car if its battery fails.

Luckily, we have a lot of experience with jump starters too. We’ll be checking out if that works, as well as evaluating its typical battery generator functions.

Here’s the price and specifications, at Amazon.

Rating the Vtoman Jump 600X

Getting down to the nitty gritty. Here’s exactly what we liked and disliked.

Vtoman Jump 600X

Pluses and who needs this power station:

Reliable power supply up to its stated maximum
In our analysis, we found it could genuinely power devices up to 600W. We’ve found some portable power stations can provide a level of consistent power up to around 80-90% of its stated maximum power supply. But the Jump 600X can keep going right up to 600W reliably. The Constant-Power function is a really interesting one, too. We’ve not seen that too often. If you have an appliance rated above 600W, it’ll provide 600W to it, which could be enough for you to use it, albeit with lower power than normal. It totally depends on the appliance, though – for some, it may not work at all. We reckon it’s still a nifty feature, though.

Plenty of ports to power your devices
It has 9 power ports, including 2 AC outlets. That’s plenty for a solar generator of this size. At this approximate size, only the Bluetti EB55 has more (11), and only the much larger 1000W EcoFlow River 2 Max (which is the best value power station in the 400W-1000W category) can match its 9 ports and 2 AC outlets.

Good quality BMS
The Vtoman Jump 600X (released in late 2022) was one of the first models of power station to go the extra mile in the safety protections offered by their BMS, and it still stacks up well today. The key protections (over-charge protection, over-discharge protection, over-voltage protection, over-current protection, short-circuit protection, high-temperature protection, reverse polarity protection, reverse charge protection) are all present and correct, and that’s one reason why we rate this as a very safe power station to use.

The jump start function is handy, unique – and not just a gimmick
As mentioned in the intro, our team here at Portable Power Geek also has years of experience testing car jump starters, both 12V and 24V. We’ve seen various power products, like power banks (once just capable of charging your phone and smaller devices), become devices that offer vehicle jump starting as well. And many of them simply didn’t work that well, or only worked in ideal conditions, when the car battery voltage was just slightly lower than the level needed to start the vehicle. Not much use in a pinch. But the Vtoman Jump 600X worked well to jump start a variety of cars, with batteries in a variety of conditions.

The cons about this model:

Disapointingly short warranty
The warranty period is just 2 years. We’ve spoken a few times on this site about how warranty length have been trending upwards quite sharply recently, for portable power stations. The reason is primarily the massive improvement in the reliability, safety and longevity of Lithium batteries, since the latest batch of LiFePO4 batteries were developed in the last 3 years or so. The likes of EcoFlow offer a 5 year warranty as standard on all their generators, and we’ve opined that this reflects their confidence in their products. Vtoman are a good quality maker, and we reckon they should back their products with a longer guarantee to reflect that.

Very slow recharging time
5-6 hours by AC wall charge? That’s extremely slow by the standards of the newer portable power stations on the market. An increasing number of the high-quality makers, like EcoFlow, Jackery and Bluetti, are offering a full charge within 1 hour or just over that; for example, the 700W Bluetti AC50B is a similar size to the Jump 600X but it gets a full charge within 70 minutes. Thats because the latest models by those companies have bang-up-to-date LiFePO4 batteries in their newest power stations.

Vtoman Jump 600X Review Summary

That brings our Vtoman Jump 600X Review to a close.

Lots to like. Plenty of ports, good build quality. Most importantly, it’ll provide its rated power level of 600W very reliably. It has one killer feature, which is the jump start function – that works well in the majority of cases. Overall, it’s pretty good value for money.

We reckon 2 years warranty is very much on the stingy side, and plenty of competitors offer a much better warranty period. It’s extremely slow to recharge by current standards.

If we compare to the competition, we do rate the Bluetti AC50B higher, in this size category, being an overall better quality unit (albeit with 4 fewer ports). And,as mentioned earlier in the article, the EcoFlow River 2 Max is a better value option.

We hope this review helped your analysis.
